Lorna's 2003 Yamaha XV1700 (Warrior)
Lorna had ridden her 2004 Honda VT750C (Aero) for a few years and it was time to get her a big bike. Myself, and most of my friends, all ride fairly large displacement bikes so I wanted Lorna to have something a little bigger than 750cc. She did her own research and decided she liked the Warriors. We searched for a few months for one and found this one.
The bike came stock with a backrest and some Bub Rinehart drag style pipes. Lorna didn't like the headlight so it was changed to a Honda VTX headlight. I didn't like the drag exhaust which had a huge flat spot on the low end. We ended up using V&H Bigshots exhaust and a PCMIIIUSP fuel processor with a Churchkey intake.
The bike has braided clutch and throttle lines with aftermarket levers and grips. The stock LED tail light and blinkers were removed and replaced with a turn signal integrated LED light.
Pros:
1700cc engine has plenty of power and a nice 5500 RPM redline
Belt drive
Fuel lines have dry breaks from the factory, super convenient
Cons:
One piece seat makes the solo look hard
Tach is mounted in front of triple tree and cannot be removed (part of key/speedo system)
No factory oil cooler
This is the Churchkey intake and coil relocation kit. It cleans the bike up a little.
The stock forward controls put your knees in your chest it felt like. So I moved them out a few inches. Much more comfortable. I made this setup myself.
We had some generic t-bars on the Warrior. They had no bend in them and you couldn't see the tachometer while riding. This is a set of CP "Punisher" t-bars installed. Myself and W. and W. Cycles head interior designer, Mr. Jason, internally wired them. Not a bad way to kill a night and a few beers.
